Instructor

I really get off on this level of work. It’s a sweat, I’m constantly out of breath and only a few strong, crazy souls have the balls to work this hard! When I’m done I train my sports…

I have been  many things career-wise but helping people to move and be strong in the process is my passion. I confess, I worked out at McFitness gyms for years, the rec center for years, in gyms in Japan, Australia, and China. They are all the same-stairmasters, machines, TV sets on the ceilings, aerobics classes and yet no real work going on. It’s a social party with guys and gals flexing their muscles in the mirrors as they move slowly from weight station to dumbbell, from machine to machine, slowly, slightly moist and with minimal exertion. What an excitement that creates! Forget dropping the weights or groaning out loud. You could wake someone up.

At the same time I would train Muay Thai or Jiu-Jitsu and get crunched by someone my own weight and size. I thought I was getting stronger all along. I spent the time at the gym, took notes, followed the instructions of the “Gurus” who wrote the books (one is actually from Colorado) and then the painful crunch. I couldn’t move any better, and I was no stronger for sure. But I looked great. I was pumped!

The problem: poor direction for athletic strength, no cardio, and no cardio built on a framework of anaerobic work and exercise. What the hell mate? Why go to the gym at all?

Enter CrossFit. I did the research, I asked real athletic trainers how to get strong. I got certified for CrosssFit and worked with quality and educated trainers.  Now I can concentrate on myself and my members, my skills and knowledge, and ultimately my life as a trainer.

This is today’s cutting edge training. Fast and hard. Pound it out, yell and scream, make noise, do it with mechanical correctness, the same way over and over and with every bit of intensity you have in your body. This is not pump, it’s work! It is measurable fitness. I record your numbers. It’s your life mate. For all the world to see. But you came here to be a winner didn’t you? Move it!

There is a strength conditioning group on linkedin.com that you are welcome to join and submit discussion ideas relating to training. And of course “like” crossfitclassic on Facebook.

Get moving on this stuff. You’ll catch up.

Danno, I’m back in Denver and need to get back on the horse. I’m thrilled that you’re in Centennial. 720-470-0786. I need evening classes. I’m back at square one, but haven’t gained the weight back (just totally out of shape).
